Holiday Gift-Giving Guide in Under 60-Seconds
Have you ever received the wrong wine from your friends and family over the holidays? As many of you know, I hold sommelier certification, so I thought I would tell you a few wine tips like I used to do on The Agency Sommelier Selection. Quick wine tip: don't give Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay as a gift when you go to holiday parties--always give Syrah and Pinot Noir. Why? Those wines go well with holiday foods like pork, ribs, veal, the list goes on.
Most people are not eating steak at holiday parties, so don't give steak pairing wines. You want to get wines that are higher in acid so they cleanse the palate and also wines that tend to have that smokier kind of flavor like Syrah and Pinot can have, to go with all those smoked meats that we eat during the holidays.
Best wishes this holiday season!
